The plants nursery is located in the middle of a village of Condroz. The main building is an old farmhouse characteristic of the local stone built country. The project is an extension to accommodate the sales area of the nursery. The new volume has volumetrically purified volume extending the lines of the existing building. It is wrapped around the main building creating a space for wandering and drawing a new entry naturally enhanced by the geometry of the whole. The useful surface is doubled thanks to this form of extension in two directions.
The constructive choices were guided by the desire to rationalize costs. The extension consists of steel frames on which are fixed translucent polycarbonate panels. This relatively inexpensive material provides indoor spaces with natural felted lighting ideal for storing plants and horticultural products. Particular care was devoted to the realization of the details of assemblies to highlight the edges of the volume and give a neat side to the whole.
The result is a homogeneous project of great formal sobriety that fits into its context without mimicry. The diaphanous volume during the day, lights up at night. The perception that one has changed according to the hours, the seasons. The contrast between the lightness of the object and the surrounding stone raises questions. The new entrance is visible from the outset, without sign, architecture speaks for itself.
